Ignite the Potential Within: The FIRE UP Coaching Framework

I trained with FIRE UP Coaching - thanks Kathy McKenzie - to get my Certificate IV in "Business and Personal Coaching". With my passion for process, I love their model - all coaches need a framework to follow even if it is customised with each and every client interaction. Here is how it works:

The FIRE UP Coaching Framework is a dynamic, multi-session model designed to move clients from contemplation to action. Built around a powerful acronym — (F) Focus, (I) Intention, (R) Results, (E) Evaluate, (U) Upgrade, (P) Perform — the framework provides a clear structure for personal and professional transformation. It encourages clarity, ownership, and momentum, helping clients consistently achieve meaningful goals and truly ignite the potential within.

🔍 F = Focus

The journey begins with Focus. Here, the client is encouraged to clearly define what they truly want. This stage moves them from vague desires to specific objectives by exploring questions like:

“What do you want?”,

“What stops you from getting it?”, and

“Is it within your control to create this change?”

By clarifying direction and identifying roadblocks, the client builds a strong foundation for intentional growth.

🎯 I = Intention

Once the focus is clear, the next step is setting a powerful Intention. This is where motivation meets commitment. Key questions include:

“What will this look like?”,

“How strong is your intention and commitment?”, and

“What will be the impact if you follow through?”

This stage connects vision with values, aligning purpose and energy toward action.

📈 R = Results

Intent becomes impactful when translated into measurable Results. At this stage, clients define SMART goals — Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Critical questions include:

“What is your specific result?”,

“How will you keep it top of mind?”, and

“Who will support your journey?”

This step builds accountability and ensures progress remains visible and tangible.

📊 E = Evaluate

Success without reflection risks stagnation. Evaluate ensures ongoing assessment and adaptability. Clients are asked:

“How successful have you been in achieving your outcome?”,

“What needs tweaking?”, and

“Is any reassessment required?”

This stage encourages self-honesty and continuous improvement.

🔁 U = Upgrade

As clients evolve, so must their thinking. In the Upgrade phase, limiting beliefs are challenged and replaced. Key questions include:

“What’s stopping you currently?”,

“What belief needs to shift?”, and

“What one change would support better outcomes?”

This powerful stage helps unlock deeper potential and enables sustained breakthroughs.

🏆 P = Perform

Finally, Perform brings it all together. Clients reflect on how they’ve changed, how they’ll sustain success, and how they’ll celebrate. Guiding questions include:

“How has your performance changed over time?”,

“What will help you maintain this change?”, and

“How will you celebrate your results?”

It reinforces progress, builds confidence, and motivates long-term commitment.
